A REVIEW ON THE TERMINOLOGY OF A-SUBDUCTION IN THE GEOTECTONICS OF CHINA

The terminology of A-subduction is rather confusion in the geotectonics of Chinathough it is popularly used by Chinese geologists for a long period.After making reviewson the various definitions and expressions of this teetonic term,the author of this paperput forward the conception of C-subduction(Chinese-type subduction)with eight geological characters which have been compared with those of A-subduction. Consequently,it issuggested that three B,A,and C subductions should be expressed different orogenic stagesof plate subduction, continental collision and intracontinental sequence, respectively.
