Abstract: An approximately quantitative method was used at first time to analyse the basin extensional amount of the Jiyang Depression. Furthermore,the tectonic subsidence and evolutionary history of the basin were discussed. By studying on the effects of basin extensional amount on sedimentary systems,depositional cycles and oil posibility,its geological significance to hydrocarbon exploration was suggested.
