Abstract: Based on study of seismic-geological sections,well data and analysis of organic geochemistry of formation water in Lunnan-Akekule area of the Tarim Basin,the geological structure and formation of hydrocarbon pools were indicated.Combining with development history of basinal tectonics,it was pointed out that there were several periods of formation of hydrocarbon pools in the area.Then the seal conditions after accumulation of hydrocarbon were discussed.The authors suggested that petroleum exploration in the area should consider the unconformity-related Paleozoic(Ordovician,Carboniferous)non-anticline traps and the Triassic traps in drape structures.
